Sports Grant
All primary schools are in receipt of additional funding from the government specifically to enhance the provision of PE for pupils by making additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education and sport on offer.
The grant allows the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and has raised the profile of PE across the school. It has allowed the children to participate in a range of inter-school competitions including, rowing, netball, football, track and field athletics.

2015/2016
The sports premium allocation for the 2015 2016 academic year was £8292.
£2862 was spent on the provision of specialised teaching/coaching. The children were involved in a wide range of sports such as dance, football, athletics, Tchoukball, gymnastics and tennis.
The school held their own Paralympic day to improve children’s understanding of sport for all ages and abilities and help them to learn new skills and different approaches to participating in competitive sport.
We purchased a wide range of new equipment including a Tchoukball set and new netball posts. This has enabled the children to learn new skills and to broaden their knowledge of the different sports available to participate in.
During the year 75% of KS2 children took part in interschool competitions.

2014/2015
In 2014 2015 we spent £2694 on the provision of specialised teaching/coaching and a short 4 week course of specialist dance teaching provided by Mrs Liz England. These specialist PE teachers have had an impact on the quality of the children’s learning in the following areas:
- Development of team building skills through participation in a variety of games
- Development of team tactics
- Development of coordination skills
- Improved physical fitness
- Improved skills in ball handling, throwing and catching and gymnastics
- Self evaluation skills
Teaching has focused on developing the children’s skills in two areas of the PE curriculum each term. The funding has also enabled us to offer a wider variety of extra-curricular sports which over 40% of pupils have attended.
£500 was spent on a wide range of PE resources including new balls, skipping ropes, goals, high jump, hurdles, reversa boards, vortex and speedbounce mats.
Staff now have increased confidence in their knowledge and skills when delivering PE and sport. They have had access to the following courses:
- High Five netball course
- Athletics coaching
- Swimming instruction coaching
- Archery
Staff have been able to upskill by observing specialist coaching from outside professionals during PE lessons.
