Weekly News
Parents’ evenings
A reminder that the on-line booking system for parents evening is now live. Please follow the link below to book. Parents’ evenings are being done virtually via TEAMS this term. Teachers will send out TEAMS invites nearer the time to enable you to join the meetings.
Ventilation in classrooms
In order to follow the government guidance on having classrooms well ventilated to reduce the spread of the virus, windows and doors are being kept open during lesson times to allow air to flow through. During break and lunch times the windows and doors are being opened wide to purge the air through. Unfortunately, this means that rooms are colder than they would normally be at this time of year. If your child is feeling the cold they can wear extra layers of clothing to compensate for this.
ZOE COVID symptom study app
Wolverton School has partnered with the COVID Symptom Study to help make sure our students are as safe as possible, whilst doing our part in creating the world’s largest scientific dataset of COVID-19 in children. Please see attached letter for more information. We would encourage as many of you as possible to sign up for this.
Non-uniform day for Children in Need
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to Children in Need via the Just Giving page. We are thrilled to say that we have raised £409 which is a fantastic achievement.
Marketing for admissions in September 21
Due to the current lockdown and tight restrictions on visitors we cannot show prospective parents around the school at present. We have created a virtual tour and information page for prospective parents on our website. Please ask all your friends, families and neighbours that may have pre-school children to look at this page via the link: https://www.wolvertonprimary.org.uk/admissions/admissions-2021/ here you will find lots of useful information including frequently asked questions. Through this link there is also a video. This can be access seperately at: https://vimeo.com/481254295
We would like to say a huge thank you to Neil Brown who has spent many hours setting this up for us.
Christmas card artwork fundraiser
A big thank you to everyone who ordered Christmas cards and gifts made with their child’s design. We raised £195 for PTA funds.
Cards and wrapping paper were sent out this week but the mugs have only just arrived in the office so we are quarantining these and will send them home next week.
Christmas jumper day
On Friday 4 December we will be having a Christmas jumper day in school. Children can come in to school in a Christmas jumper and in return we ask that a donation is made to the Stratford food bank. Kate Drysdale will be collecting donations outside the school directly in to her car boot at the beginning and the end of the day. No donations are to be brought on to the school premises. A flyer is attached with items that are most needed by the foodbank. Thank you for your support.
Christmas Pantomime
As some of you may know in previous years we have either taken the children to the Pantomime or had a company come in to school to perform in the school hall. For obvious reasons we cannot do either this year. However, the PTA have very kindly organised for the children to watch a performance by the Belgrade Theatre Company in Coventry of Jack and the Beanstalk which will be streamed in to each class bubble. The date for this performance has not yet been decided but we will let you know once it has been set.
Upcoming PTA events
The fundraising events normally held during December such as the Christmas Fayre and raffle are the PTA’s biggest money raisers. They have had to think differently this year on how to still raise these vital funds without live events taking place. During December they will be organising the following fundraisers which we very much hope you will all support:
Christmas film night with message from Santa and gift for the children
On-line Christmas raffle
Craft sales – these will be items that the children make in school and we ask parents to buy.
More details on how and when these events are happening will follow shortly.
Kind regards
Wolverton School
