A round-up of the latest school news for week ending 10.09.2020
Drop off / pick up
Please can we remind all parents of a few points when dropping off and picking up children
maintain social distancing at all times
be on time
children are dismissed in the order that parents queue
move forward in the queue so staff can see you are waiting
children should not go back into school to collect forgotten items
collect children and leave the site quickly to allow other parents adequate space
Parking and turning round
Please can we ask you not to use our neighbours drives to turn your car around or undertake dangerous 3 point turns in inappropriate places. We have also noticed this week that cars are being parked either side of the Blacon Farm entrance. This entrance is a vital space for turning round in so please do not park either side of it, always park on the school side of the road. We are fully aware that parking is a problem and that maintaining social distancing is difficult with the narrow paths outside the school but please ensure your parking and turning round are done safely so as to protect the children, parents and other road users. Thank you.
Home learning for children who are self-isolating
If your child is self-isolating because of COVID19 please inform the school as quickly as you can. If you need to contact the school out of hours then please leave a message on the school phone 01926 842214 or email email@example.com.
Your child’s class teacher will set work for children who are self-isolating via ClassDojo. Activities will, as far as possible, reflect the work that is being done in school and cover a range of subjects. Completed work should be uploaded and returned via Class Dojo.
Signs & symptoms
To help keep your child and fellow student’s safe, your child should not come to school if:
They are feeling unwell and are experiencing any coronavirus symptoms (If in doubt, book a test. If positive, isolate for 10 days from start of symptoms)
They have tested positive for coronavirus and are within the 10 day isolation period
They are sharing a household or support bubble with someone with symptoms (person with symptoms to be tested, if negative can return to usual activities; if positive, you must isolate for 14 days from last contact)
They have been advised by the NHS test and trace service to self-isolate or aware they are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus (isolate for 14 days from last contact)
They have returned from abroad and government guidance states they need to quarantine for 14 days
If your child is feeling generally unwell with a seasonal cold or sore throat but does not display any Coronavirus symptoms they can come in to school. If you are in any doubt please contact the school office for advice.
This year we are sending out the information normally covered in the Parent Teacher meeting via Class Dojo. This information will be in the form of a short video / PowerPoint.
If, following the presentation, you still have questions then please email these to the school office on firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 14 September. We will collate questions and Class Teachers will either send out a general response via Class Dojo, or where questions relate to specific children, they will contact you personally.
Meetings with Parents
Due to COVID-19 we will not be holding face to face meetings with parents unless this these can be accommodated outside and at a social distance. Instead, meetings will be held either via telephone or Microsoft TEAMS.

To assist with the school’s engagement of the Test and Trace Scheme, we are requesting contact details from individuals in addition to the usual information required from our visitors. Should it become apparent that you may have come into contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID19 whilst on the school premises, we may be requested to share your name and contact details with the NHS Test and Trace Scheme. For further details on how we process your information, please refer to our privacy notice on the school’s website. Further information on the Test and Trace Scheme can be found by visiting https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works.
Piano lessons with Julian Grimshaw will start again from tomorrow. Children must bring their own music books with them as there will be no opportunity to share or borrow music. There will be no home liaison books used to prevent any cross contamination.
At present we have no information on when guitar lessons through The Warwickshire Music Hub will recommence. As soon as we get any information on this we will let you know.
Parent governor vacancy
We have a vacancy for a parent governor. From tomorrow there will be a link from our website to an on-line nomination form.
