We are fortunate that the Governing Body at Wolverton draws on an excellent blend of parental experience and specialist knowledge and skills, to support the school in a number of ways. We:
- Ensure that the school’s performance continually improves through regular monitoring and evaluation
- Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to provide strategic direction for the school
- Play a key role in the development, review and approval of policies
- Oversee the financial management of the school
Our Governors discharge their responsibilities diligently acting together to ensure that Wolverton Primary School meets its legal requirements in a manner consistent with our Guiding Principles. Most importantly, we are here because we care for our school and want it and all our children to succeed. Our governors are always willing to listen to all members of the school community – if you would like to contact the Governors, please email me.
We meet formally four times a year as a full governing body and communicate with each other regularly. As Chair, I also meet with the Headteacher at least once a month. We also have two committees – Performance and Standards, and Resources – each of which meets once a term.
Our Governors serve a term of four years on the full board, together with a sub-committee. Occasionally the need also arises for various working parties, e.g. fundraising committee, parental questionnaire working party and right now we’re putting additional efforts into marketing the school, to help make prospective new parents aware of the amazing things that the school does.
None of our Governors have declared any of the following which may influence their governing role: Business Interest, Financial Interest or Governance role in another school
Mark Goossens, Chair of Board of Governors
