Board of Governors

Message from the Chair, Prof Jon Stobart .......

The Governing Body at Wolverton draws on an excellent blend of parental experience and specialist knowledge and skills to support the school in a number of ways. We:
  • Ensure that the school's performance continually improves through regular monitoring and    evaluation
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to provide strategic direction for the school
  • Play a key role in the development, review and approval of policies
  • Oversee the financial management of the school
Our Governors discharge their responsibilities diligently acting together to ensure that Wolverton Primary School meets its legal requirements in a manner consistent with our Guiding Principles. Most importantly, we are here because we care for our school and want it and all our children to succeed. Our governors are always willing to listen to all members of the school community.
We meet four times a year as a full governing body. We have two committees - Performance and Standards, and Resources - each of which meets once a term.
Our Governors serve a term of four years on the full board, together with a sub-committee. Occasionally the need also arises for various working parties, eg. fundraising committee, parental questionnaire working party.

None of our Governors have declared any of the following which may influence their governing role:

- Business Interest

- Financial Interest

- Governance role in another school

"I have been a governor at Wolverton for over 10 years, serving as the Chair of the Resources Committee since 2012 and recently being appointed as Chair of Governors.
Two of my children have passed through the school in that time and the third is now in year six. I became a governor because I wanted to support the school in my village, helping to ensure that every child had the best possible opportunities to learn in a friendly environment.
I am also a Parish Councillor, a role which helps to provide a strong link to the local community."

“I am a newly appointed parent governor with 2 children at the school, one in year 2 and one in year 4. I was keen to become a governor as I’m a mum who loves living in Norton Lindsey and feels very lucky to have such a fantastic village school.  I hope my skills and enthusiasm will help contribute to support the school to achieve all it can and ensure our children have a happy start to their school life and achieve to their potential.”
